Charles Benton Biography
Charles Benton is an Artist and fashion designer who lives between New York City and Los Angeles. Charles trained in the arts in Rome and fashion design in London.
Charles graduated from Central Saint Martins in London with a BA ( HONS ) in both fashion illustration and fashion design, Charles officially began his career in Paris, where he worked for prestigious fashion houses such as, Emanuel Ungaro, Guy Laroche and Givenchy. He also held relevant design/creative positions in London, New York and Los Angels. His Fashion Designs have graced the covers of both Vogue Italia and British Vogue as well as French Bazaar, and worn by celebrities in the United States as well as Europe.
Charles is best known for his idiosyncratic and expressive style of drawing, painting, ceramics and embroidery. His drawings are both intimate and evocative, mixing characters, nature, fashion with the ephemeral and fantastical.
Charles is driven towards constantly testing new frontiers with his art. His work has been described as " ethereally innocent and provocative ". His innate passion for the arts and illustration along with the experience he cultivated in the fashion industry over the years is now looking to expand his unique style and talent to all media platforms; production design, animation and graphics.
His work combines various mediums from color pencils, watercolors, oils paint, inks, markers and digital art.
